PLAY OUR HEART'S LAMENT
LIKE AN UNREHEARSED SYMPHONY
With a light groan of annoyance as the small streaks of sunlight made their way through the open windows of the room and onto the white-haired female’s pale skin, she slowly removed her elbow which was covering her eyes for a short moment and sat up in her bed, a yawn escaping her lips. Throwing the duvet aside as her legs slipped out from them and onto the cold floor, a slight shiver accompanied her due to the sudden approach from warm to cold. She made her way over to the adjoining bathroom in which the female proceeded to take a shower before, starting off with the day.

As all the daily routines after getting up in the morning were done and taken care of including, getting dressed in her usual outfit of a white coloured sleeveless shirt along with a brown coloured overcoat on top as well as white coloured jeans and brown boots. As for her hair, as per her preference, she had tied it up in a ponytail with a green ribbon and left some strands outwards, lining her face. To finish the look off, her pale hands opened the drawer next to her bed where in a small black-coloured box lay a golden pendant inscribed with an insignia or symbol of a transmutation circle on which the activation of her crash alchemy depended upon and she wore it around her neck finishing the simple look off.

And with that, Belisa made her way out of her small little room and started walking towards the Alchemist Central. Belisa, though may not appear to be, was indeed a state alchemist; one serving the nation of Amestris. A government’s dog or whatever they may prefer to call the State Alchemists was not something she cared or paid attention to. There were a quite a few reasons for her being one but her most prominent was her father. He always wanted her to be one regardless, of the condition they were in and though, Belisa may hold some disliking towards the State Alchemists or mainly, towards the country’s government, she would still fulfill what her father had wanted her to do. To survive; to live a good life; and to be happy. And overall, she was.

The rays of the sun descended down upon Central City in pleasant waves, sending a rush of elation and ecstasy among all those who were present. It made a ghost of a smile appear upon the white-haired woman’s lips by just letting her turquoise orbs witness the happiness that people were experiencing along with the pleasant weather. It was small things such as these that brought her happiness. “The weather is indeed, quite pleasant. Perhaps, I may take a stroll around the town afterwards. I am running out of groceries anyways.” However, another thought crawled into her head. It was usually on these pleasant days that something eventful would occur; disregarding, the magnitude of impact it possessed on how many people or whether on any people at all. It did indeed, make Belisa wonder what was too happen on this day as she sat down upon a bench for a short while to just enjoy the serenity that roamed around her.

THE FIRST PIECE
"YOU WOULDN'T KNOW INSANE IF IT HIT YOU IN THE FACE."

"Make this the last time."

The words were followed by the sound of metal hitting stone. It was nothing more than a kitchen knife... followed by several other knives that were once held by the same hand. The girl was unamused with the man yet again for a horrible performance. He was full of disappointment. This was not the first time she held a blade to the man's throat, and to hold them to his chest was a new experience.

She took a step back from the bleeding man as his chest pumped blood over his ivory tiled floor. It was nothing new for her to do, at least not to this particular man. "If I see you taking in another girl," she kicked one of the knives on his store's floor towards him. The end stuck into the wall beside the man. "I'll leave more than just a few words carved into your chest."

She exited the small shop, ringing the bell that rang when the door was opened. She always wondered why some of the stores were the merchant's homes as well, but figured it was just architectural matters, and she's rather not get involved. The day seemed to be full of love and life, and lacking the lust that the man held for the younger variety of women.

Today she would wander the world just to ease her mind of the crime she bore witness to. She was nothing like the alchemists of the state. She lived by her own rules, and that alone make people follow her, either in support, or for her capture. Her name was known to none, as her identity remained a mystery. She would often wonder about the first man she killed, and her first alchemic experiment. HE was nothing more than a man, and a man is how he died. The man's wife, she learned to call mother, something they began to believe less and less was the truth... yet back in her mind lay the fear of the opposite.

But today, she would relax... even just for a moment.

Central, oh what a confusing city you are

Lost, lost yet again.

This was becoming a habit to the man, getting lost in Central, like some kind of recruit to the State Alchemists. Letting out a sigh, the man stopped, scratching the back of his head, wondering where exactly he was. There was a small park in the distance and a bunch of boutiques on the side of the streets, built onto the ground floors of all the apartment blocks. He remembered this area or then a very similar one, as the man had passed through one of these kinds of streets, three hours ago, in the other side of the city. Running through half the city, in 3 hours, was quite impressive, for someone who got lost all the time and stopped to pet every single kitten he could lay his eyes on.

All the stops and getting lost, had made Shairako stay out almost all the night, so he really need to find something to relax with now. Entering a small store, he picked out a small glass bottle of water, threw money to the shop keeper and walked out, now enjoying a cold water. He kept on walking, towards the park now, hoping to maybe stumble upon someone who he could ask for directions or something like that. Maybe just chat even, as boredom was becoming a real issue now, more than before even.

Suddenly, he noticed someone sitting on a bench alone. Shairako knew instantly that this was the person to ask, as well, they were alone, not seemingly doing much, so bothering them would be okay, hopefully. Even if it got crazy, he still carried around the Philosopher Stone, though it was hidden away deep into his suit's pocket, in a secret bag for it.

As the man got in front of the girl, sitting on the bench, he bowed and smiled toward her: ''Hello there miss, i was wondering if you could give me directions back to the State Alchemist Headquarters or possibly just talk.''

PLAY OUR HEART'S LAMENT

The white-haired woman titled her head slightly so that her gaze could be planted upon the ball of fire in the sky; however, from such a far distance, it was nothing more than a source of light in the form of a circle, not at all harmful excluding, the radiation, of course. A sigh escaped Belisa’s delicate lips as she tilted her head back to its original position, moving her hand over to her neck to lightly massage it due to the small amount of pain that coursed through it, momentarily. Belisa’s turquoise hues scanned the environment around her taking in the faces of exultant individuals.

Despite being one who was taught to take interest and find joy in very minute matters, it did make her question exactly why these individuals were so happy? Perhaps, it was because they had something she did not; a family. She had lost hers quite a while back, the pain of which had slowly diminished with time. As she gazed over at the surrounding area, her eyes landed upon a figure of a female who was exiting one of the shops nearby. However, the woman contained upon her something quite interesting otherwise, Belisa would not have paid attention. What lay upon her were small splotches yet noticeable to Belisa’s sharp gaze in the form of a dark red imprint on her shirt; the imprint of blood. “Interesting.” Holding upon her face the look she always held; a monotone one which portrayed no emotion whatsoever, the white-haired woman was about to get up from her seat and approach the other female with sleuth till of course, she was interrupted from doing so.

If there was one thing that Belisa did not prefer was someone interrupting her. A light grimace overcame her features as she turned her head, slightly to look at the new company that sat next to her on the bench as his question repeated in her head. The first thing that Belisa noticed about him were his eyes; quite a peculiar colour, not one you would see every day. However, if memory served right from her continuous days indulged in reading then red coloured eyes usually belonged to people who were Ishvalan. However, the man’s other features such as his midnight black hair or his pale skin contradicted the usual appearance of an Ishvalan. So, he was not one; that was for sure.

From the corner of her eye, her turquoise hues drifted to the woman whom she had noticed before to make sure that the woman was within Belisa’s sight. Splitting her attention to both of the individuals, Belisa decided to answer the man’s question. “The State Alchemists Headquarters are quite a distance away and unless, you have an excellent memory, I doubt you would remember.” Her statement was indeed, quite rude but the woman was not one to care who she would be rude towards. Nobody had ever treated her with kindness whilst she was growing up, so none would deserve some from her. As her attention was spilt into both the male and the other woman, she had failed to notice upon him the State Alchemist watch; the same of which she possessed hidden in her brown-coloured upper. Contuing to answer the second part of his question, Belisa replied gazing straight at the man’s eyes, her eyes depicting quite an emotionless and hard look. “As for the matter of talking, then, my simple answer to that would be ‘no’. Simply because I do not have the time nor interest in talking to people I am not acquainted with or who do not seem worthy of being talked to. And you seem to be more likely, the latter one.” If not before, then she was definitely rude now. However, Belisa was an honest individual and said what she felt regardless of whether anybody labelled her.

Considering the fact that he had interrupted her anyways, it gave more of a reason to behave this way towards the man. And moreover, Belisa acted this way to anyone and everyone unless, they earned her attention regardless of they were; be a State Alchemist or even the Führer.

THE FIRST PIECE
"YOU WOULDN'T KNOW INSANE IF IT HIT YOU IN THE FACE."

She did not wander far from the shop, only making it to the side of the storefront. She saw the girl in the distance speaking to the man. What they said wasn't completely distinct, and they were just out of sight to even attempt to make out their words. She would lean against the brick and stone of the building, relaxing within the shade and shadow. She would watch it unfold. She was in the mood for some minor entertainment.

However, it would appear that she was growing irritated with the man. IT was then that she saw the glint of a familiar watch, something only those with the state possessed. "You're all fools." she would say to no one in particular. "You sold your freedom."

It was then that she let her mind drift into a faint daydream. Her eyes would shut and divide her from the world that she lived in, into the world she wanted to be. The more she thought about it, the more she believed her real father was out there, whoever he was. She knew that tattoo on her back was the source of her power, and was nothing more than the only thing she had that was from her real family. But perhaps she would explore her own powers to see what the world could allow such odd performances.

She would recall faint memories of a life that once was. She would catch small moments of her childhood. She would see her youthful hands and the limbs of her parents, but she would never see the faces. Her world was blurry. Her eyes had seen it all, but she had never taken it in.

"Who am I?" she would think to herself. "Why am I here? Why am I alive?"

And her ever growing list of questions became even more extensive. For she lacked all the answers.
